Commissioners approve personnel changes and OK down payment for sheriff trailer from rainy-day fund

White County Commissioners approved multiple personnel actions and a transfer to fund a sheriff’s trailer down payment during the meeting.

The meeting recorded the acceptance of several recent separations (termination or last day of work dates given by staff) and the hiring of new staff across departments. New hires and appointments read into the record included Isabella Lewis (dispatcher, replacing Amy Yates), Jeremy Rodriguez (part-time recycling warehouse position, $19.10/hour), Katie Miller (part-time corrections officer, $14.76/hour), Riley Lawton (jail position, $19.51/hour), Jay Simmons (highway driver replacing Justin Bender), Renee Guerrero (corrections officer, $19.51/hour), and Jeff Saltzman (corrections officer, $19.51/hour). Several other internal moves and replacements at the jail and highway department were announced; staff provided individual start or last-day dates during the personnel roll call.

Separately, commissioners approved a motion to take the down payment for the sheriff’s trailer from the county rainy-day fund. Meeting discussion referenced a down payment figure of about $37,000; staff and a commissioner said the amount would come from rainy-day or riverboat funds and would be recorded in county accounts for later reimbursement where appropriate. A commissioner moved to take the down payment from the rainy-day fund; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.

All personnel approvals and the funding motion were approved by voice vote. The personnel items will be reflected in county payroll and personnel records and the finance office will record the rainy-day transfer for the sheriff’s purchase.
