Speakers noted July (including Fourth of July events) is a busy period for celebrations and that a dedicated person could improve execution and collaboration across departments. The group discussed sharing the position with the recreation team, leveraging potential revenue from paid events, and seeking service-district agreements to provide funding. One participant said recent free pool swims were well attended and that some events could remain free while others could be charged to generate revenue to offset wage costs.
The council expressed support for advertising the role as part time with a goal of recruiting someone who could expand into a full-time role if funding allows. Staff were directed to create a job description and begin recruitment steps.
