Resident raises safety, theft and code-enforcement concerns over RVs and storage on nearby property

During the April 16 public-comment period resident Adam Baker of 5700 Godfrey Road told the City Commission the property across the street from his home has an active RV park, storage trailers and multiple vehicles parked in the rear, creating traffic and safety concerns.
Baker said he has lived in Parkland and previously built and sold homes in the city; he said he has recently invested about $5 million into his current house. “Every time I pull out of my driveway, I’m looking at an RV park across the street,” he said. He also told the commission that a nearby storage operation occupies about 2½ acres and that the site is receiving $100-per-day fines while still earning “$300 a day or more,” and that people he called “illegal” were driving vehicles in the area. Baker said his car had been stolen from his driveway two weeks earlier.
City staff directed Baker to meet with Jackie Weymayer, who the commission identified as the staff member overseeing the city’s code enforcement division, for a follow-up. Weymayer and other staff indicated they would reconnect with Baker after the meeting. Baker said residents and a road association had asked him to bring the matter before the commission.
The commission did not take formal action during the public-comment period; commissioners and staff said the matter would be handled by code enforcement and invited the resident to submit written details and follow up by email.
