Public Works reports East Main change order, sanitary sewer bids and PennDOT paving review for Main Street

LANSDALE, Pa. — Lansdale Borough’s Public Works Committee on March 5 reported a change order for the East Main Street Streetscape project, scheduled sanitary sewer contracts and ongoing coordination with PennDOT on an upcoming Main Street paving project.
The committee said Change Order No. 3 for the East Main Streetscape project will increase the contract net by $28,591.71, driven largely by inlet modifications required by PennDOT because of nearby underground utilities. That change order will be presented to the full council for approval at the upcoming business meeting.
Public Works also said competitive bids for the Edgemont Avenue and West Third Street sanitary sewer improvement projects are expected to be returned by March 15; the borough will present recommendations for the lowest responsible bidders at the business meeting so work can commence. Committee members described the sewer work as precursor work to planned paving of those streets.
Separately, PennDOT and the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) plan to repave Main Street from Valley Forge to Route 202. Public Works recommended that DVRPC include a Complete Streets review — potentially adding bike lanes or pedestrian features — at no design cost to the borough; the borough would only bear future upkeep costs for any added striping or markings.
The committee also reported that a residential icing problem on Concord Road caused by a sump-pump discharge has been resolved by in-house crews, and staff described plans to draft annual sewer-rate resolution language for council consideration.
