City staff responded that the city has filed a lawsuit against the homeowner for code violations and that a hearing is scheduled in April to seek an injunction that would require the homeowner to bring the property into compliance or would authorize the city to remediate the violations at the homeowner's cost. Staff identified the hearing date as April 23, 2025, and invited residents to attend and offered to contact them about serving as witnesses if the city pursues testimony.
Haberkamp said neighbors have considered petitioning the city to pursue condemnation; staff said the city had already initiated legal action and welcomed neighbors' support and potential testimony at the court hearing. No formal council action on the property was recorded beyond the staff report about the filed lawsuit and the scheduled hearing.
