Cherokee Nation names Sydney Krennick executive director for Natural Resources; landfill manager praised

Christina Justice, speaking for the tribe's Human Resources area, told council members that the Chief had set aside and delegated an executive director position within the Natural Resources department and that Sydney Krennick has been chosen for the role.
"The individual that's been chosen to fill that position is someone that makes my life better every day," Justice said, noting the appointee had worked under her for about a year and a half and that the role will support day-to-day operations.
Sydney Krennick, speaking after the announcement, said she was "honored and blessed to have this position" and expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve the tribe.
In the same report Justice also recognized David Miller, manager of Landfill Operations, praising his work and noting a recent visit to the landfill. "He is a joy of a human being and loves his job and just really, truly goes above and beyond," Justice said.
The council did not vote on the appointment during the meeting; Justice described the Chief's delegation of the position and the selection internally. No effective date, hiring authority paperwork, compensation details or implementation timeline were provided in the report.
