The Professional Standards and Teacher Education Board took three formal votes during its April 3 meeting: the board adopted its March minutes and voted to publish proposed amendments to disciplinary procedures and a set of licensure regulations for public comment.
Minutes: The board moved to adopt the minutes of the March 6, 2025 meeting with an attendance correction. The motion to adopt the minutes was moved by Karen Yoho and seconded by Ms. Bacon. The board recorded the motion as adopted.
Disciplinary regulation (COMAR 13A.12.1206): The board voted to publish proposed amendments to COMAR 13A.12.1206, "Disciplinary Action and Denial." Doctor Taylor moved the motion to publish; Doctor Hadley seconded. The board approved the motion and the item was granted permission to publish for public comment.
Licensure package (three regulations): The board voted to grant permission to publish three related licensure regulations (issuance of types of licenses; licenses for specialists; licenses for administrators and supervisors) as amended by the State Board of Education. A motion to publish the three items was made and Doctor Taylor seconded; the motion carried and the board authorized publication for public comment.
Ending: Each published item will appear in the Maryland Register and enter the designated public-comment period; staff said matters would return to the Professional Standards board for review of comments before any final action by both boards.
