The district’s annual energy performance verification reviews were also scheduled. Design documents for later phases — including work at GW and Chambers in phase 3 — are complete, while Phase 2 remains under review by the State Education Department; committee members reported responses to SED comments had been submitted.
Superintendent Dr. Padalino told the committee he recommended postponing the athletic‑field master plan because of budget concerns and potential taxpayer impact; the committee said the project’s scope will continue to be investigated and no vote is planned for May.
At Deeds Stadium, committee members reported the spring season is underway but noted the side practice field will remain unusable until grass and ground conditions improve. The district said ADA hardware has been installed on doors, an on‑site maintenance worker will be assigned during events, and security will be present for contests. The committee also cleared a student‑led effort to pursue an electronic lawn sign on Broadway, subject to the students raising funds and the maintenance department’s installation review.
The committee discussed fleet replacement options and said five district vehicles are scheduled to be replaced within the next year; the facilities report noted staff are investigating electric and hybrid alternatives. Committee chair and maintenance staff provided a general vehicle count and breakdown between food‑service and maintenance vehicles.
The facilities committee adjourned with its next meeting scheduled for April 29. Separately, trustees announced the city ribbon‑cutting and public tour for Deeds Stadium is planned for May 3, with an expected 1 p.m. start and a 1:30 p.m. ribbon cutting.
