Commerce committee adopts amendment and refers small liquor-related bill to labor committee

Representative O'Driscoll and members of the House Commerce Finance and Policy Committee adopted the DE1 amendment to House File 15-45 and voted to re-refer the bill to the committee handling workforce, labor and economic development on April 2.

The bill was described by Representative O'Driscoll as related to language previously included in an omnibus liquor bill the committee passed last week and as a measure to ensure certain provisions are considered by the committee with jurisdiction over labor questions. "House file 15-45 as amended is a bill that is related to the liquor bill that this committee passed out last week," Representative O'Driscoll said during the meeting. She said the change would move a 17-year-old provision to the labor committee while members determine if another committee should hear it.

There were no members of the public who had signed up to testify on HF 15-45, and committee members did not request further public comment. Co-chair Lee encouraged the committee to support the referral; Representative O'Driscoll renewed the motion to re-refer the bill "as amended" and the chair called the voice vote.
