The Senate Committee on Housing and Development on April 2, 2025 adopted the -5 amendment to Senate Bill 51 and reported the bill to the Senate floor with a "do pass" recommendation.
Committee staff read the bill summary: SB 51 directs OHS to contract with the Housing Development Center, Inc., to receive appropriations to provide technical support to affordable housing providers; it also appropriates funds for OHS to support the growth and availability of culturally responsive property management services and directs OHS to establish and maintain an affordable housing preservation program. The -5 amendment was moved by Vice Chair Anderson and adopted without recorded objection.
After the clerk called the roll, the following committee members recorded "aye": Senator Robbin, Senator Nash, Senator Patterson, Vice Chair Anderson and Eric Binn. The motion to report SB 51 as amended to the floor with a "do pass" recommendation passed.
The committee did not read a dollar total for the appropriations into the work session record, nor did members discuss implementation details during the short session. Committee remarks were limited; no public hearing was held during this meeting on SB 51.
With the committee's recommendation, SB 51 will advance to the Senate floor for further consideration.
