Cerritos council unanimously certifies March 4 municipal election results; three council winners named

The Cerritos City Council on March 19 voted 5-0 to waive full reading of and adopt a resolution certifying the results of the March 4, 2025 Cerritos General Municipal Election, City Clerk Cindy Nava said at the meeting.
Cindy Nava, city clerk, told the council the election included three seats for city council and two charter amendment measures. She reported total registered voters of 35,674, 8,494 ballots cast, and overall turnout of nearly 24 percent. Nava said the agenda report had been revised the day before the meeting to account for one vote-by-mail ballot that was cured by the March 17 legal deadline and tallied under the curing process.
Under the certified results Nava presented, the three candidates receiving the highest number of votes were listed as Mark e Pulido, Jennifer Hong and Sophia Se. Charter amendment Measure J received 4,820 affirmative votes and Measure K received 5,745 affirmative votes; both measures required a simple majority (50 percent plus one) to pass, the clerk said.
The council opened and closed public comment on the item without speakers; the clerk reported one written public comment was received and available on request. After a motion to waive full reading and adopt the resolution and a second, the council took roll-call votes: Councilmember Bruce Barrows — Aye; Councilmember Linda Johnson — Aye; Councilmember Frank Aurelio Yokoyama — Yes; Mayor Pro Tem Chung Vo — Aye; Mayor Naresh Solanki — Aye. The clerk announced, "The motion passes on a vote of 5 to 0." The adopted resolution recites the election facts and declares the results in accordance with the city charter, Nava said.
No additional debate or actions were recorded on the item during the meeting. The council proceeded to the evening's recognition program following the certification vote.
