Redevelopment Authority approves Barbetti McHale audit contract not to exceed $2,000

The Lackawanna County Redevelopment Authority voted March 26 to engage Barbetti McHale to provide audit services under Resolution 1149-25, approving a professional services engagement with a fee not to exceed $2,000.
The resolution, introduced during the authority's regular meeting, replaces prior auditing arrangements after the prior auditor began winding down that line of business. Authority members noted the new contract covers both the redevelopment authority and the land bank.
Kevin McDonough, who opened the meeting, said the new firm is Barbetti McHale of 1421 East Drinker Street in Dunmore and that the contract stipulates a fee "not to exceed $2,000." He also identified Joe Garvey, a CPA with the firm, as the staff member who will be assigned to the authority's work.
Board members moved and seconded the resolution and voted to approve it. The meeting record shows the motion passed with the board voting "Aye." The meeting also recorded approval of the minutes from the Dec. 11, 2024, meeting and authorization to pay one voucher covering Dec. 12 through March 24; both motions were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
No additional conditions, amendments or dollar-line changes to the audit engagement were recorded during the meeting. The authority indicated the change is a cost savings compared with the prior arrangement.
