The joint subcommittees voted today to increase the annual grant allocation provided to each of Nevada—s 28 locally elected conservation districts from $5,000 to $5,500 per district beginning in fiscal year 2026.
Justin Luna, fiscal analyst for the Legislative Counsel Bureau, told the subcommittees the governor recommends general fund appropriations of $14,000 in each fiscal year of the 2025–27 biennium to support the increase, meaning an additional $500 per district per year. The agency explained each conservation district determines how best to use its allocation; if a district does not spend its full allocation, remaining funds may be reallocated to other districts that apply for additional funding.
Chair Taylor moved to approve the recommendation as read by staff; Assemblymember Brown May seconded. The motion carried.
