Brooks said the alleged incident occurred at Parkside High School and that her organization received multiple complaints about Beacham’s conduct, which she described as a “racial harassment” incident involving a slur and an explicit reference to a watermelon. “We are formally requesting the removal of retired Maryland State Police officer Kevin Beacham from the Police Accountability Board,” Brooks said on the record, urging immediate action and an independent investigation.
Brooks also reported that the NAACP has requested Beacham’s removal from Wicomico County Public Schools and said keeping him on the accountability board would “undermine the integrity and the mission” of the body tasked with civilian oversight of law enforcement.
Council did not take action at the meeting; Brooks said she had submitted a letter and asked the council to investigate and remove Beacham if the allegations are substantiated.
