The Atchison County Board of County Commissioners opened two sealed bids on April 1 for Ottawa Road Phase 2, the planned rehabilitation of the first two miles between 260 Second and 240 Sixth.
County staff announced the bids: King’s Construction submitted $1,218,022 and a second bid by Linaweaver (spelled in the bid as Linaweaver) submitted $1,350,205. County staff also provided the project engineer's cost estimate, $1,584,945.50.
The board did not award the contract at the meeting. County staff said they would meet with the county engineer to review bids, evaluate compliance and scope, and bring a recommendation to the commission at a subsequent meeting. A start date was mentioned for the lower bidder and schedule details will be confirmed in follow-up discussions.
Commissioners received the bids and the engineered estimate; staff advised additional review is standard practice before award.
