Creek View High School construction 62% complete; metal panels, cafeteria and auditorium milestones reported

District construction staff updated the Medina Valley ISD Board of Trustees on March 31 that construction at Creek View High School is approximately 62% complete and several major building-envelope and interior milestones have been reached.
Rafael Barajas, presenting the construction briefing, said roofing base sheets and much of the roof-cap have been installed and that metal panels for the exterior envelope began arriving on site. The dehumidification system has been installed to allow interior millwork and finishes to proceed, he said, and storm-drain work and liner installation for the main baseball field are underway.
"Metal panels have started arriving on site," Barajas said during the briefing, adding that storefront installation at the main entry and other exterior cladding work remain in progress. He described the planned circulation, noting the main bus drop-off loop will feed directly into the cafeteria area.
A contractor representative identified as RT gave an interior update: stone work is complete in portions of the building; tape-and-float wall finishing is underway; millwork is largely complete in classrooms; flooring, ceiling tiles and faceplates remain to be installed. RT identified the cafeteria area's main wall as the future location of a video wall and said overhead serving doors and wall tile are in place. Freezer and cooler equipment for the kitchen were expected to arrive the following week, with additional kitchen equipment scheduled in early August.
In the auditorium, painting has begun and installation of stage rigging systems and acoustical (tectum) panels is imminent, RT said. He described the rigging installation as a major upcoming milestone that will change the appearance and functionality of the stage area as those systems are installed.
Barajas and RT noted several near-term items: completion of storefront and window installation, continued delivery and installation of metal panels, and ongoing interior finishes that will allow phased occupancy of classrooms and support spaces. No final completion date was given to the board during the briefing, but staff described a sequence of upcoming deliveries and installations (kitchen equipment early August; continued envelope and finish work in the coming weeks).
Why this matters: the construction progress affects student move-in, scheduling of commissioning and equipment installation, and the district's capital spending schedule. The dehumidification and millwork progress were presented as critical steps to allow interior finishes to continue on schedule.
What's next: staff will return with further construction updates to the board as work progresses and as contracts are executed after award motions approved earlier in the meeting.
