Medina Valley ISD trustees approve major construction contracts and budget amendment; appraisal-district building purchase fails

Medina Valley ISD trustees on March 31 approved two construction contract awards and a budget amendment to pay for portable relocations and technology reimbursements, while rejecting a resolution authorizing the Medina Central Appraisal District to purchase a separate building.

The board voted to award the contract for the Middle School No. 3 portion of the district's projects to Bartlett Cocke General Contractors in the amount of $69,341,500, and approved increasing the owner's contingency by $2,658,500, bringing the total project authorization to $72,000,000. The board delegated authority to the superintendent to finalize the contract.

The trustees also awarded the Medina Valley High School Agricultural/JROTC building contract to W.R. Griggs Construction in the base-plus-alternates amount of $10,905,000 and approved an owner contingency of $645,000, bringing that project total to $11,550,000. The board again delegated authority to the superintendent to execute the contract.
