Board approves side‑letter updates with county labor units; ordinance amendment introduced

The Placer County Board of Supervisors on April 1 approved side‑letter agreements with two county labor units and introduced an ordinance to amend county code consistent with those agreements.
Nicole (Human Resources) presented the item, saying county staff had recently reviewed memoranda of understanding with the Placer Public Employees Organization (PPEO) and the Deputy Sheriffs Association to align contract language with CalPERS and regulatory requirements. "The action requested is to approve a side letter agreement between the county and the Placer Public Employee Organization to update provisions of the memorandum of understanding," Nicole said. She also presented a side letter with the Deputy Sheriffs Association and asked the board to introduce an ordinance to amend Chapter 3 of the county code to reflect the agreements.
Supervisor Gustafson moved approval; Supervisor DeMatte seconded. No members of the public spoke on the item at the meeting. The board approved the side letters and introduced the ordinance by voice vote.
Ending: County staff said the ordinance introduction will bring the agreement language into county code after the required adoption steps. The change responds to administrative clarity and conformity with CalPERS rules.
