Porterville council: key appointments, contracts and routine measures approved

Council voted 5-0 to approve routine consent calendar items and to reappoint Yesenia Asencio to the Arts Commission. The council nominated and approved Mayor Meister as Porterville’s preferred representative to the Tulare County California Identification (Cal-ID) Remote Access Board; that appointment will be forwarded to the city selection committee. The council also filled five public seats on the newly created Downtown Porterville Committee by a 4-1 vote: Larissa Frye, David Horowitz, Katie Adams Puett, Robert Taylor and Sam Zens were appointed; one previously submitted applicant, Taha Salle, withdrew his application.
Other consent and routine outcomes included council authorization to purchase a seasonal “Happy Easter” banner for Main Street (estimated production cost $1,300, staff to design), and approval of several construction- and planning-related contracts and amendments discussed during scheduled matters. The meeting record shows unanimous 5-0 votes on several staff-recommended contract actions (airport lease direction, design contract amendments for public safety projects, and continuation of other routine services) unless otherwise noted.
