Dickinson County Partnership launches Harrington events committee; first ‘Ladies’ Night’ set for April 25

Jessica Bridal, director for the Dickinson County Economic Development Corporation, updated the commission on a new Harrington events committee and asked for community involvement as the group prepares its first event.
"For those who don't know, Dickinson County Economic Development Corporation has legally absorbed the Abilene Area Chamber of Commerce several years ago, and we renamed it the Dickinson County partnership so that it was a county wide serving chamber of commerce," Bridal said. She said that with Harrington no longer engaged with the Tri‑County Chamber, the countywide organization is helping identify needs and provide services to Harrington businesses.
Local volunteers Whitney Jones and Morgan Porter described plans for the first Harrington event, a Ladies’ Night on April 25. Jones said the event will include bingo cards, visits to participating local businesses, and larger prizes for customers who make purchases, not just collect stamps. "We're gonna pick up their bingo cards. They're going to visit lots of local businesses, have a great time," Jones said.
The committee also intends to continue the town’s annual Christmas festival the first Saturday in December and is raising funds to bring live reindeer to that event. Bridal said the Dickinson County Partnership board approved formation of the Harrington committee and that volunteers are raising funds and soliciting ideas for other community events.
No formal action or city funding request was recorded at the meeting; the presentation served to notify the commission about local volunteer activity and planned events that aim to support downtown businesses.
