The Arkansas City Commission on April 1 authorized staff to accept a contractor proposal to install a new sewer line serving the Arc Bridal Center complex, with an estimated project cost of $545,252, subject to permit and related fee fluctuations.
City staff explained the work will be coordinated with an emergency repair and a directional-boring contractor already mobilized for an under-track repair on F Street, reducing additional mobilization costs. The city said the project must obtain railroad permitting and that some permit fees are estimated and may change, which is noted in the motion.
There was limited discussion at the meeting; one commissioner characterized the work as necessary. A motion was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. The transcript records no roll-call tally.
Staff indicated the project will be paid from the sewer department budget. City staff also noted a separate, nearby sewer replacement project previously approved at an estimated $477,000; both projects are in the same general area but will have separate estimates and funding sources.
The resolution authorizing acceptance of the contractor's proposal directs staff to finalize contract terms and proceed with permitting and scheduling so the under-track boring work can be completed while the specialized equipment is in town.
