Boise City Council on Tuesday approved a resolution declaring the city-owned single-family house at 1329 South Michigan Avenue surplus and authorized staff to list it for sale.
Maureen Brewer, Housing and Community Development senior manager, told council the property was acquired in February 2003 with Federal Home Funds and the required affordability period had expired. Staff said the home requires complete rehabilitation; estimated repairs on the property were about $60,000, which makes retaining it in the city—s rental portfolio financially impractical. Council approved a surplus resolution finding the property was underutilized and not being used for a public purpose.
Following approval, staff said the property would be listed for sale the next day, with offers accepted through April 14 at 5 p.m.; staff will sell to the highest bidder. Brewer said proceeds from the sale will be reinvested in the city—s rental housing portfolio.
Council voted on the resolution (RES-162-25) and the motion carried on a roll call vote.
