Douglas High student council earns AASC platinum award after raising more than $3,000

Student council leaders at Douglas High School told the Governing Board that the council earned a platinum‑level award from the Arizona Association of Student Councils (AASC) after raising more than $3,000 in charitable contributions.

Nicole Michelle, introduced as the student body president, said the AASC recognizes councils that meet fundraising and service criteria and that platinum level is reserved for councils that have raised more than $3,000. Student leaders named individuals and community organizations that supported the effort, including Rochelle Castillo, Maria Trenta, Alejandra Yanes, the volleyball booster club and other volunteers who helped with fundraising logistics.

Board members and administrators congratulated the students and noted several students serve in officer roles on the student council. District officials said the activities demonstrate student leadership and community engagement and thanked volunteers who assisted with the fundraiser.
