The Oxnard City Council approved six sets of appointments to citizen advisory groups and boards, confirming nominees to the Community Relations Commission, Cultural Arts Commission, Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission, the Planning Commission, Senior Services Commission and the Measure O Citizen Oversight Committee.
Names confirmed included Tiffany Lopez and Megan Salas to the Community Relations Commission; Sandra Diaz and Alyssa Torres to the Cultural Arts Commission; Joe Garcia and Angela Wycombe to Parks and Recreation; Ronald Arueco and Dr. Miguel Lopez to the Planning Commission; and several appointments to the senior services and Measure O oversight committee. The clerk said additional appointments will return to council on April 15 as background checks and outstanding steps are completed.
Ronald Arguello, a public speaker and neighborhood chair, urged council support for several nominees and described working with appointees in neighborhood leadership roles. “They are incredibly passionate about serving their neighborhoods, and I have no doubt that they will do so also on their respective appointed positions,” Arguello said.
Councilmembers thanked volunteers and noted the appointments are unpaid civic service. The motion to approve the recommended slate carried 7-0.
