Board authorizes payment to board secretary and to review position duties
Summary

The Board of Education voted unanimously on April 1 to rescind any arrangements for pay to the board secretary beyond the agreed hourly rate and FLSA overtime and to authorize payment of wages identified as due for previously performed work.
The motion, introduced by Brian Anderson and seconded by Brian Nichols, directed the board to rescind any pay arrangements beyond the secretary’s agreed hourly rate and to authorize payment of wages identified by an investigation as owed for work performed without prior compensation. The board and administration also committed to review the board secretary position and develop a recommended job description and duties going forward.
During the discussion trustees asked procedural questions about how the revised duties and compensation would be developed. Administration said the review would proceed in collaboration with the board and that any changes to a job description or compensation would be returned to the board for approval. A board member asked for the motion in writing so the clerk could capture it in the minutes; the clerk requested the written motion and staff agreed to provide it.
Action details: the board authorized back pay for previously uncompensated work as identified by the district investigation and directed a collaborative review of the board secretary role and related compensation. The motion passed unanimously.
