At the close of the April 1 work session, the City Council moved to adjourn to an exempt session to discuss collective bargaining as permitted under Iowa law.
Mayor Pro Tem moved to "adjourn to exempt session regarding collective bargaining as permitted under section 20.173 of the code of Iowa." The motion was seconded and the city attorney confirmed the proposed subject matter was appropriate under Iowa Code section 20.173. On a roll-call vote the council recorded "yes" votes from the following members: Johnson, Harper, Miskeman, Menser, Brant and Sternak. The motion carried and the public meeting was adjourned into exempt session.
The motion and roll call were procedural; no substance of the exempt session was discussed in open session nor was any public action taken at the work session regarding bargaining terms.
