Commission approves three sign certificates for Texas Treasures locations on Main Street

All three structures were described as contributing commercial buildings in the historic district: the 231 South Main building circa 1966 and the 195 South Main building circa 1977. Staff said the signs comply with the Unified Development Code and the historic-district sign criteria, including limits on size, materials and illumination.

Commission discussion clarified that the smaller hanging sign (agenda item 5e) had been listed as MDO in presentation materials and that commissioners preferred a metal sign material. For the wall sign (5d) the commission approved a condition requesting a border or frame similar to the previous sign’s visual edge; staff said they would ensure the final sign stays within projection limits from the wall and meets structural review requirements.
