"That increase went towards the overall increase that Republic Services requested," Thompson said during the meeting.
Council members asked whether the listed percentages were set by the city or passed through from Republic Services. Thompson said the residential increase is a pass-through with the addition of the city's administrative fee and the standard franchise fee; she described the administrative charge as 20.6% applied to residential accounts and the franchise fee as 5%.
