Fulshear amends master fee schedule to add electrical inspection fees for residences, generators and pools
Summary
Council approved fees to cover electrical inspection work not previously billed: a $95 residential inspection fee, $300 for commercial inspections, $95 for generators and $45 for pool electrical inspections; staff said the fee structure complies with state rules and will be invoiced to the building permit applicant rather than electricians.

Fulshear City Council approved an amendment to the master fee schedule to add electrical inspection permit fees (referred to in staff materials as “Building E” permits). Staff said the move complies with state law while ensuring the city recovers the cost of plan review and electrical inspections that previously were not billed.
Staff presented recommended flat fees after surveying nearby cities and modeling mock projects. The approved fees are:
- Residential electrical inspections: $95 per inspection - Commercial electrical inspections: $300 per inspection - Generator electrical inspections: $95 per inspection - Swimming pool electrical inspections: $45 per inspection
Staff noted that Texas legislation passed in 2017 limits collecting fees directly from electricians; per state guidance the city will collect the inspection fees from the building permit applicant. Staff said inspections will be performed by existing planning/inspections staff and no additional personnel are required for implementation. The packet referenced a Texas code citation used in staff materials (noted in the packet as "13O5.201F").
Council approved the amendment to the master fee schedule on a motion and voice vote.
