Fulshear City Council voted to adopt the 2024 updates to the city’s Parks and Pathways master plan. The updates include schematic features and site programming for three parks:
- Francis Smart Park: planned veterans memorial, playground, plaza space and parking. - Irene Stern Park: planned courts for basketball, tennis and pickleball, a pavilion, walking paths and a playground. - Bessie’s Creek Park: a walking trail, outdoor fitness station, boardwalk overlook with pier and parking.
Staff told council page flags mark which pages were updated in 2024. During discussion, council members raised data accuracy concerns: one council member noted that Cleveland Creek is shown as a park space on older maps even though it is largely inaccessible; another member observed recent park additions elsewhere that are not reflected in the adopted map.
Councilmember Kent Poole moved to adopt the master plan update; the motion was seconded by Councilmember Powers and passed on a voice vote. Council asked staff to review and correct map items that rely on outdated developer data and to bring further refinements back in future work sessions or agenda items if needed.
