Commission approves vacation of right-of-way adjacent to 6400½ Burleson Road

The Urban Transportation Commission on April 1 approved a staff‑recommended vacation of a portion of the public right-of-way adjacent to 6400½ Burleson Road.
Christopher Buechert, a real estate services agent in the City of Austin Land Development Engineering Division, presented the request for a roughly 0.911‑acre tract that abuts Old Burleson Road and East Dastney Lane. Buechert said all property owners within 300 feet were notified and no public objections had been received.
City staff recommended approval subject to conditions in the master report that will preserve utility interests. The city will retain an electric easement and an easement for water and wastewater lines across the entire vacation area; Buechert said permanent structures over the easements would require an easement release only after utilities are relocated or removed.
Grant Pringler (Winstead PC), representing the affected parties, said the underlying fee owner was Travis County and that the adjacent property has been rezoned from light‑industrial to a commercial/mixed‑use category; no site plan was active at the time of the meeting. Staff noted the right‑of‑way currently contains deteriorated pavement and does not function as a through route.
Action Commissioners voted to approve the right‑of‑way vacation as recommended. The motion was moved and seconded during the meeting and passed unanimously by those present.
