The Colleyville City Council on April 1 approved a resolution confirming the City Manager's appointment of Lisa Escobedo as the city's Director of Public Works. The council adopted Resolution R-25-527 by roll call vote; the motion passed 7-0.
Council members announced the appointment after a closed executive session. Mayor Bobby Lindemood read the resolution on the record, citing Colleyville City Charter Section 7.05, which establishes the Department of Public Works and states the director is appointed by the City Manager with Council approval. Lindemood said Escobedo, currently the city's Parks and Recreation director, will assume a dual role effective April 5.
The mayor and council members thanked outgoing Public Works Director Amber Beard, who is leaving to accept a position as assistant city manager for the City of Azle. Colleagues praised Escobedo's work leading Parks and Recreation and expressed confidence in her ability to manage both portfolios.
The motion to approve the resolution was made by Mayor Pro Tem Elder and seconded by Councilmember Alfonso; the council approved the resolution by a unanimous vote of 7-0.
