The Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday approved several closed-session settlement recommendations involving the city’s litigation portfolio.

City of Los Angeles et al. — recommendation to expend up to $200,000 in settlement. - Item 55: United States of America ex rel. and Fair Housing Council of San Fernando v. City of Los Angeles — recommendation to expend up to $13,700,000 in settlement.
Those two larger items (Items 54 and 56) were held on the desk earlier in the meeting for questions and then presented with CAO recommendations; the council voted to approve the payments. Councilmember Yaroslavsky stated the closed-session items had been considered by the Budget and Finance Committee and recommended approval. The final votes on the items announced by the clerk were 14 ayes for the block of closed-session items.
The council’s public readout did not include details beyond the amounts and case captions; the clerk read the CAO recommendations and the council then took roll-call votes.
