Committee advances bill to create care program aimed at improving student attendance

Vice Chair Scharf moved to adopt the dash-2 amendment and then moved the bill with a do-pass recommendation and referral to Ways and Means by prior reference. Committee members recorded their votes as “Aye” and the chair closed the work session.
Supporters described the program as a way to reduce barriers to students’ regular attendance by coordinating local services. No formal opposition testimony was recorded in the committee work session on April 1.
