Chief Financial Officer Reggie Pegues presented a financial overview on March 26 that summarized revenue trends for hunting and fishing licenses, state park revenues and boat-related revenues, and provided a summary of budget adjustments through February.
License and park revenue trends: Pegues said license revenues through February for License Year 2025 totaled about $83.7 million, a 2.3% increase over the previous year and down 1.6% from record License Year 2021. State park revenues through February were about $29.2 million, a 4.5% decline from the record FY22 amount but generally steady in the $29–30 million range for the last three years. Pegues also reported total park visitation at about 3.8 million visits (up 2%) and paid visits at 2.3 million (up 1.3%). Boat-related revenues were trending upward with $7.1 million through February for FY25.
Budget adjustments: Pegues summarized adjustments since the December budget including about $3.4 million in appropriated receipts, $2.5 million in unexpected capital balances, $36 million in federal funds (including a $10 million local park grant and $15 million wildlife-related grants), $3 million for fringe adjustments and $4.1 million in operating carryforward funds. Those adjustments totaled about $49.8 million and produced an adjusted FY25 budget of approximately $1.08 billion.
Why it matters: The finance report provides context for capital and operating decisions and for staff requests in other agenda items, including capital repairs, park acquisitions and supplemental funding discussions.
