Stan David of TPWD’s Land Conservation Program told commissioners the property has been jointly operated by Williamson County and the YMCA for about 30 years. TPWD acquired the property via jurisdictional transfers from TxDOT (50 acres in 1994 and an additional 6 acres in 2012) and has functioned largely as a landlord while the county has operated the park.
Under the proposed disposition staff said Williamson County would receive full ownership via a quitclaim deed but would be required, as a condition of transfer, to continue operating the property as a public park. Staff said there were no planned fees associated with the transfer and that the county seeks the transfer to remove an additional layer of oversight and consolidate operational responsibility.
