Texas Parks and Wildlife Department staff on March 26 proposed lowering annual fees for cultivated oyster mariculture permits and received industry requests to ease seed sourcing rules and accelerate coordinated restoration and industry-support actions.
Dr. Lindsey Glass Campbell of TPWD’s Coastal Fisheries division presented proposed reductions to mariculture fees. For grow‑out sites staff proposed lowering the public‑water fee from $450 per acre per year to $150 per acre per year and the private‑land fee from $170 per acre per year to $57 per acre per year.
