Township staff presented paving estimates for 2026 and asked trustees to decide which package of streets to include before a county deadline.
Staff submitted two main paving options and a separate retrace estimate: Option A, $354,627.87, covering several streets in Weathered Oaks and Jamie Drive; Option B, $181,503.27, covering streets in Reginald Estates; and a retrace cost of $17,511.78. The stated grand total for all three items was $553,642.92.
Staff said money had been budgeted in the 2026 appropriations and that, while cash balances appear sufficient, some amounts are encumbered. The fiscal update noted an encumbered $789,000 that has not yet been paid; staff said that after encumbrances the available cash would fall to about $1.1 million. Trustees asked staff to provide more precise curb-and-gutter and concrete costs and to confirm which streets truly require curb work before the board makes a final decision.
Because the county needs a decision by Dec. 1, trustees directed staff to bring back a finalized recommendation and the requested breakdowns at the next meeting. One trustee emphasized avoiding falling behind on pavement maintenance.
Ending: No contract was awarded at the Oct. 14 meeting; staff will return with additional cost details and a recommended option for a decision before the county's deadline.
