Vincennes University President Chuck Johnson asked the Appropriations Committee to maintain dual‑credit reimbursement at $50 per credit hour and to expand a longstanding $3 million line item that supports career and technical early‑college partnerships to $5 million annually. Johnson said the program now partners with about 20 career centers statewide and has invested roughly $15 million in equipment to raise local program standards to Vincennes University levels.
On capital, Vincennes requested about $32 million to expand and modernize an automotive technology center, retire an overcrowded welding pole barn and add electric vehicle and battery‑tech capacity. The university also sought multi‑campus R&R funds for HVAC, steam‑plant and envelope repairs across its Jasper and other sites to improve safety, energy efficiency and maintainability.
Johnson said Vincennes is a statewide partner for CTE and that the requests aim to keep equipment current, sustain workforce pipelines and maintain safety and efficiency in older facilities.
