Parent group Cardinals Rising reports $188,995 raised; announces $15,000 robotics match

Cardinals Rising, a parent fundraising group for the Annandale Public School District, told the school board on March 10 that it has raised $188,995 to date and outlined ongoing matching opportunities and upcoming events.
“As of today, we have raised $188,995,” said Alyssa Radowitz Darmagala, a resident and representative of Cardinals Rising. She said the group’s current $876 matching opportunity has seen 42 of 52 matching donations completed, leaving 10 matching donations available.
The group urged donors who want the $876 match to deliver qualifying donations to the district office by Friday, March 14. Alyssa Radowitz Darmagala also announced an anonymous donor has offered a separate $15,000 matching pledge for funds raised specifically for the district’s robotics program between March 17 and April 17.
Cardinals Rising listed recent and planned fundraising events. Reich’s Plumbing contributed $876 to be matched; Sweet Escape Ice Cream Shop raised $1,988.18 and rounded the donation to $2,000; Annandale Elementary principal Mr. Klipnis received $719.17 in tips during an event; A Town Tattoo raised $17.52; Rendezvous met a $5,000 fundraising goal; Annandale Embroidery is running a promotion aiming to reach a matching threshold; Sugar Acres Apparel donated $876; and Midwest Macaroons donated 50% of sales from a presale. The group also plans events at Spilled Grain (a family-friendly beer/food fundraiser) and a March 28 A Town Tattoo event, and is running meat raffles and a “Poop for a Cause” spring-cleaning fundraiser.
Darmagala said Cardinals Rising continues outreach and communications, including podcasts and interviews about levy impacts and tax information. She told the board that community members repeatedly ask when the district will hold another levy vote; she said the group does not yet have a date and that discussions will happen soon.
A board member thanked Cardinals Rising for its fundraising work. The group also encouraged supporters to contact legislators and provided an email template and contact list for advocacy available on the district’s March 10 agenda materials online.
The board did not take any formal action on the fundraising report during the meeting.
