House adopts conference report and passes wildfire funding bill

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah House on March 5 adopted the joint conference committee report on third substitute House Bill 307, Wildfire Funding Amendments, resolving a technical issue that previously prevented volunteer rural fire departments from receiving state grant funding.
Representative Casey Snyder moved adoption of the conference committee report and said the earlier problem involved a technical glitch arising from fund consolidation. “That glitch has been repaired in the third sub, and the bill’s ready to go,” Snyder said on the floor.
The House adopted the report and then voted for final passage; the chamber recorded the passage as 70 yes and 0 no. The bill will be sent to the Senate for the president’s signature, according to House floor announcements.
