SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah House on March 5 voted to not concur with Senate amendments to third substitute House Bill 249, a measure concerning nuclear power, and asked the Senate to recede from its changes.
Representative Albrecht moved the motion and told colleagues, “Just relax, take a pill, cool your jets. We’re gonna fix this in committee.” The House recorded the motion to not concur as passing; members did not take final passage on the underlying bill on the floor during that exchange.
Sponsor and other members said they planned to address remaining issues in committee. The House’s decision asks the Senate to recede from its amendments so the bill can be reconciled in committee before final floor action.
