The Chair of the Oroville Town Planning and Zoning Commission recommended and the commission voted unanimously to recommend approval of a conditional use permit for an accessory dwelling unit to be used as a short-term rental at 121 West 100 South.
The commission considered the application, noting that required public-notification letters had been sent. “We are waiting on letters to go out on this 1. Right? That's what we were we were last month. Yes. They've gone out,” the Chair said during the discussion. Commissioners examined the submitted dimensions, which staff reported looked to be about 410 square feet.
The item was placed on the agenda as a conditional use permit request because the proposed accessory dwelling unit (ADU) would operate as a short-term rental. The Chair told the commission the town has engaged Sunrise Engineering and a consultant, Brad Robbins, to review the zoning ordinances; Robbins is also reviewing whether the town will continue to specify minimum sizes for ADUs. “He’s looking into that,” the Chair said.
After brief discussion that no additional concerns were raised, a commissioner moved to approve and another seconded. “It's been moved and seconded to approve item number 1. All in favor? Aye. Motion carries. It's unanimous,” the Chair announced. The commission recorded a recommendation of approval to follow local procedure for conditional-use items.
The commission did not add further conditions in the meeting record beyond standard review; staff and the applicant were directed to proceed with the recommendation process.
The application’s address and applicant name were entered into the record for the planning file; any final administrative approval or permits will follow the town’s formal notice and review procedures.
