Mayfield council approves soliciting 2025 road bids, posts seasonal job opening and accepts claims and minutes

The Mayfield Town Council on March 12 approved several routine but consequential items: a motion to solicit bids for the town’s planned 2025 road work, authorization to post a part-time seasonal position for cemetery and park maintenance, and approval of the month’s claims and minutes.

Council discussed the priority list of streets for 2025 resurfacing and chip-seal work and emphasized that associated drainage issues should be addressed in any resurfacing project. Garrett and public-works staff provided area and square-yard estimates for the proposed sections; council asked staff to get bid estimates and to put the projects on the Community Impact Board (CIB) list for possible funding.

A motion to approve seeking bids for the 2025 road projects was made from the dais and received a second; the council proceeded after discussion to authorize staff to solicit bids and to pursue CIB funding as appropriate. The council then voted to post a part-time seasonal worker for spring/summer cemetery upkeep and to approve the month’s claims and meeting minutes.
