The North Logan City Council voted unanimously on March 19 to accept a construction bid from Staker Parsons for improvements to 600 East. The agenda item described the project as "600 East from 2200 North to 2400 North"; the staff presentation described the work as rebuilding a section of 600 East that includes an eight‑foot asphalt trail and related utilities.
Jordan (city staff) told the council the project qualified for a Council of Governments (COG) spot‑improvement grant and that the grant award of $300,000 covers most of the roadway and trail work but does not cover water line, curb and gutter or stormwater components. He said the bid includes portions where a developer will reimburse the city for work on the northern half of the corridor.
Councilmember Buzzy moved to approve the bid; the motion was seconded by Councilmember Kenny and passed unanimously. The council discussion noted the bid amounts were within anticipated estimates after accounting for developer reimbursements and the COG funding.
No contract award amount was read into the record during the public discussion. Staff said stormwater and water infrastructure in the contract are additional city costs not covered by the COG grant.
The council did not attach additional conditions to the approval during the meeting; staff indicated they will coordinate developer reimbursements and construction phasing as part of the project administration.
