The applicant proposed elevating the building on pilings so finished floor elevation would be about 9 to 10 feet above existing ground; staff said the county's base flood elevation is 7 feet mean sea level and required flood protection elevation is 9 feet. Elevation work and the proposed wrapped deck prompted the application for variances.
