Mayor Nichols pledges implementation steps, April 6 announcement and June 1 observance for Tulsa Race Massacre recommendations

Mayor Nichols told the Beyond Apology Commission on March 21 that the city will present a proposal April 6 and that "June 1 will be Tulsa Race Massacre observance day," signaling the administration's intent to move recommendations from the commission toward implementation.

"I don't think there's any action that we can take that's ever gonna be a full measure of justice that's ever gonna make it right," Nichols said, "but I do feel like we have an obligation, to make sure that, you know, as the this commission is named to move beyond just an apology." He told commissioners they would have access to the administration's April 6 announcement before it is made public.
