Compliance review group urges licensees to work with staff; board reviews website redesign and CEO training

At the March meeting the Gambling Control Board heard reports from the Compliance Review Group (CRG) and the board’s Education and Outreach committee.
A board member giving the CRG report said the committee conducts informal inquiries into alleged violations of lawful gambling statutes and rules. The speaker said 16 organizations have been brought before the CRG to date; 12 organizations have completed sanctions and three organizations were scheduled for later the same day. The board member urged licensees to work with compliance and licensing specialists and to ask questions so that common issues can be avoided.
Separately, the Education and Outreach committee reported on a website redesign and an upcoming CEO training program. The committee said the beta website will have separate landing pages for licensed professionals, new users who need basic information, and occasional users. The committee emphasized a communications tone that highlights charitable gambling’s community benefits rather than focusing on pull‑tabs. The committee also said the CEO training — still under development — is intended to make chief executives better partners in compliance rather than performing others’ duties.
Board members praised the outreach work and reiterated that a compliance specialist is the first point of contact for organizations with questions or problems.
