Elementary programs, clubs and Skyline's wrestling title highlighted at Warren County school board meeting

At the March 5 meeting of the Warren County School Board, the division highlighted student and school programs across several campuses, including AS Rhodes Elementary, EarlyAct clubs in every elementary school, and a state wrestling championship by Skyline High School.
AS Rhodes principal and staff presented an overview of the small elementary's staffing, programs and interventions. The school reported enrollment near 265 students, an average class size of about 22, and described use of shared specialists (GT, EL, reading coach) that serve multiple schools part time. The report noted use of Lexia and IXL supplemental programs and that roughly 100 students had completed a grade level in Lexia in the current year. The school also described family engagement efforts including a Discovery Museum night sponsored by the Front Royal Elks Lodge.
Staff and students from AS Rhodes demonstrated two student-run clubs. Mrs. Curtis described the Walk/Run Club that meets before school twice weekly; several students told the board about improved focus and social benefits from participating. Chris Siders described a disc-golf club and plans to install permanent baskets on-site.
Skyline High School coach and administrators celebrated a historic state wrestling championship for the program. Coach Simons and school leaders recognized individual place winners and three individual state champions. Board members and superintendent congratulated the team and recognized the community support that helped the team travel and compete.
The board also heard about EarlyAct clubs sponsored by the Rotary Club at multiple elementary schools. Speakers described projects including hygiene packs, blankets, and fundraising that supported local needs such as Sleep in Heavenly Peace. Presenters emphasized the program's focus on "service above self" and described peace-pole plantings and other community-focused projects.
Ending Board members thanked students, staff and community partners for the presentations and encouraged continued engagement; no formal action was taken on these reports.
