The Bluff Town Council voted March 18 to accept a $5,000 bid from Lee Contracting LLC to address leaks and roof openings at the town-owned property at 191 Bluff. The approved work includes replacing worn screws and seals on the metal roof, sealing an HVAC penetration and removing two old swamp coolers and patching the roof as closely as possible to the existing color.
Malia, a town staff member handling procurement, told the council that one bidder withdrew because of workload, leaving Lee Contracting as the remaining vendor. "So quote 1 for the roof repair... would be 3,500. And then if we also would like him to remove the 2 old swamp coolers and patch those holes... that'd be an additional 1,500 to total 5,000," Malia said during her presentation. Council members discussed whether to remove the swamp coolers; after a motion and second, the council voted in favor of the full $5,000 scope and instructed staff to proceed.
The council also reviewed two electrical quotes for repair of outlets and a hot switch; staff said one electrical firm was licensed and bonded and another was licensed but not bonded. Council members asked staff to obtain additional information, including cost estimates to wire a portable generator to the building (using available grant funds), before deciding on the electrical work.
The contract award was recorded by the clerk as approved on a voice vote with no recorded opposition.
